3 nights at 2* Opera Hotel .. not sure what second star was for!?
Good: Centre of Bordeaux. Low cost 
Bad: Not clean, no recption, no A/C. No 'fresh' air. Musty/smelly. Shower = warm/freezing/boiling 

Spend a few quid more!

Good location but very tiny room and bathroom. No AC and breakfast was in the other place. So if you don’t want to spend too much time in your room this is a great choice. Easy to get from the airport.

Tiny hotel in a good location

We stayed here for 2 nights in March.
Pluses:
1. Excellent location, across from the Opera House, walkable to everything
2. Quiet, clean, secure
3. Excellent price point for the location
4. New, comfy beds

Minuses:
1. It's not been remodeled for at least 30 years
2. It has no reception- you must go to its sister hotel (4 Soeurs) to check in 
3. Very slow wifi
4. Disorganized- the morning we were to check in, I received a phone call saying I had "made a mistake" (I had not) and booked 2 rooms; when we arrived, they insisted I hadn't yet paid (I had). Luckily I had printouts from my booking or they probably would have charged me again.
5. No free breakfast

Overall, if you want a budget Bordeaux stay, I recommend.

Budget hotel in a perfect location for Bordeaux sightseeing

The location is excellent; right in the city centre and, for the location, is remarkably cheap. The rooms are small and very basic, but everything you need is there, even a good choice of English language TV channels. The aged decor gives a rundown feel, but it is acceptably clean. 
All in all the hotel represents excellent value for money and is a great place to stay to visit Bordeaux centre on a budget.

Great location and excellent value for money

If you want a comfortable clean room at a reasonable price right in the centre of Bordeaux this is ideal. It is part of the Hotel des 4 Soeurs which is just around the corner and you check in there, you can also leave luggage there too. Once you have your key Hotel de L'Opera is just around the corner and there is a lift. 
The rooms are small but well appointed and imagine they can get very hot and steamed up if you don't open the windows (see the review further down this page). The shower room and loo were very clean and there was an extractor fan.
Great value for money, very central, clean and ideal for a tourist who just wants a bed for the night.

The Ideal Place to Stay in Central Bordeaux

Although the location is very good, the hotel leaves much to be desired, starting with the fact that once the reservation is made, the reception is not in the same building but has to go to another street to communicate something. The room has no ventilation system, no air conditioning, no ventilator, no window through which air passes except one that gives an unventilated trail.

Horrendously horrible.

This is the first time I've ever been to a hotel to not sleep... my room was overlooking the opera, but especially the nightclub, the Circle, located right next to the hotel on the ground floor. I couldn't find sleep because of the noise. By closing the windows, even if the noise was partially attenuated, the room was a real furnace. And it wasn't the old dusty fan provided by the hotel that helped solve the problem... Hotel to escape in summer and on weekends.

Where are you sleeping?

Enchanted by the pictures of the site and the reasonable prices we booked 2 rooms at the Opera Hotel. Excellent location in the centre of Bordeaux, ideal for exploring the city on foot. However, the rooms have nothing to do with what we thought we had booked. A tiny room with a window overlooking a glass-headed light well. So hyper dark and above all no room. Worse if you want to open the window, an awful smell of moss invades the room. This deserves to be stipulated in the booking. The bathroom is functional, the dishes are changed every day, the shower however and really not functional. You need to have a point... Breakfast is correct. The room is worth more than 20 euros depending on the hotel.

I'm really disappointed.

We were given the room No. 11 just above the nightbox THE CIRCLE which opens at 11pm and closes at 7pm!!! White night because of the noise and people went out smoking and drinking just under the window all night.

A nightclub right under the windows!

Centrally located hotel. Small but very clean and tidy rooms.
Staff has been very polite, professional and friendly. Basic breakfast that could probably be enriched with a few more items. Definitely coming back on my next trip.
